Theme Songs

Remember back in the good old days when TV shows had these catchy theme songs? Sometimes they were so unique that it only two a few notes for you to know what the song was. Now, barely any shows have a theme and it's sad. So I thought we'd take a look back at some of my favorite TV show theme songs, as well as some of the classics.

I feel like everybody knows this song- Cheers is the place where everybody does know your name and we all want that. Roni and I were wondering, however, if this song was written specifically for Cheers or if it just fit so well that they used it. Anybody have any idea?

Oh Gilligan.... this is maybe one of the most famous theme songs out there. Unfortunately, it has the nasty habit of getting "a three hour tour" stuck in my head for hours and hours. If you have the same problem, then don't listen to this video.

OK, so not technically a theme song, since it was for the spoof sitcom episode, but still, it's one of my favorites. I love how they are so cheesy and overact their sections. Love the fake ghost, their silly laughter and of course, riding the teeny-tiny scooters.

Oh Golden Girls- it's sad to think that Betty White (who, by the way, is a rockstar, even at age 90) is the only Girl left? This was such a great theme song- I'd never change the channels when watching reruns on Lifetime. And yes, I totally did that. Judge away.

Again, another theme song that probably everybody knows the words to. I like how this theme song essentially gives the entire synopsis of the plot. There's never a question about what you'll be watching. The episode will be a story of a lovely lady with her lovely blonde girls and a man named Brady with his three boys who were, sadly, alone. But the lady and the fella got together and that made them the Brady Bunch... episode now ensues... Same thing every time.

One of my favorite older shows- I loved how , no matter what the season was, they would always show the old pictures of the cast members. It reminds me of what Parenthood (the NBC show) does these days with Forever Young. I really liked the last season when they had the last picture as that professional portrait but I also really enjoyed at the end of the credits when one family member would always be the only one left standing....

Wow, neither of them can sing but this makes it classic and precious and utterly adorable. Their relationship is so special and it's totally encapsulated in this theme song. Those really were the days.

Now, I realize that this one does not have any words (well, it does, but not in this version) but I included it because it's iconic and memorable and doesn't need anything but the tune to remind you of what you will be watching.

I'm just getting into this show and I just love this theme song. Again, though, did BNL write this song first and then they used it for the show? Because there is a much longer version that the 20 seconds featured here....

There are SO many animated shows that could be used "Best Theme Song" so I decided to cut it down to one of my favorites. I just love Ch-ch-ch-chip 'N Dale, Rescue Rangers. Although, I have to confess that sometimes I segue the end of this song, into "Banana" by Tom Knight. I don't know why. I just do.
