Flashback Friday- 4th Grade

While cleaning out my things from the garage, I found some gems. The first is from "The Book of Me" that I created in the fourth grade. This is the original, folks, with some commentary.

OK, do you guys remember the part in "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" where Sheila Tubman writes that she had done something extra on a group project, making Jimmy and Peter made so she turns it into a row of flowers? I had a marker smudge on the front cover, which lead to the weird cross-sectoin designs on the front cover.

Man, I was a cute baby....

Love this picture of me in the dirt.

Why did I hate to shower? I have no idea. What an awkward picture...

This is no bad hair day, this is an incredible hair day! Wish my hair could do this now!

I'm amused by the straight-forwardeness of this: She had a baby but it's hard to have one in the zoo so she and the baby died. Done, that's it. Matter-of-fact. Sad, though.

Such an awkward quote: "Half boy, half girl, ahhhhh!" I love Amish country, though. Although why I chose the picture of the boy clothing and not the girl clothing, I have no idea.

My voice inflections never come across very well in writing. I hoped that the squiggly lines underneath would help. I'm not sure they did.

My best friend Hadasi just posted pictures from this year- we were so little back then! Our t-shirts say "Hello First Grade" (Shalom Kita Aleph)

Interestingly, I believe that I picked the orange and black because Youval's birthday is in October. And maybe I made this book in October, I can't remember...

Yes- my Kirsten dress! I loved it so much. It was quite a lavish present. Eventually, I got a pair of crinolines, a bonnet and an apron. Kirsten/Little House of the Prairie games abounded in my childhood.

Secondly, I found the book the classes made for me when I moved to New Hampshire. Here are some of the gems with some commentary.

I don't remember who this kid is. I also never remember pulling his hair. Weird....

I appreciate her view of me on the softball field but I'm pretty sure that I never hit a home-run and I'm pretty sure no one ever cheered. I did get yelled at for wearing earrings when I played catcher. In my defense, I had gone for so long without playing catcher that I just assumed it would never happened. So technically not just my fault...

The PS just screams "Sound of Music". This girl was so nice though.

Notice anything about the previous two pages? Yeah, it was just like deja vu all over again.

I'm not sure what I like better- the Good Luke or the knock knock joke that makes no sense.

Morgan was my closest friend in 4th grade... she was so clever and so smart.
And a 5th grader, which was awesome to little 4th grade me.

I had the biggest crush on Kyle throughout third grade. I mean, it was massive.

"Sniffle sniffle." Amazing.

This kid was a Michael Jackson wannabe- wavy hair, black shoes and glove to boot.

Jake Jacobs was an incredible artist.

Even back in fourth grade, I loved books, as my teacher clearly knew.

Curt Gray was also a great artist. I also remember him ripping a
fingernail off once. It was gross.

I wanted to be Ms Cogliano so badly when i was in fourth grade.
