What are you doing for New Year's Eve?
Here's what I did.
The Dufaults came over and we had the greatest taco bar spread ever. Who doesn't love making their own tacos? Other than the girls at Shiri's sorority house, apparently. In the rest of our opinions, you can never have too many tacos.
Allie and I drank up all the cider. It was so delicious. Thank you Amanda for bringing cider to the beer exchange last week so that we could exchange between each other and have a bunch of ciders to pick from. Delicious.
Do you know who your friends are? If you think you do, Whoo-nu is the greatest game ever. We played a slightly different version but basically, each person had four cards with nouns on them. You picked (out of those) which one you thought the "It" person would like the most. Then they would rank the six choices and you would get points for how high or low your choice was. Lots of laughter, lots of secret trading back and forth, and I won! I never win!
Of course, there was the obligatory watching the ball drop and all the hoop-la that goes along with it. Among the highlighters were these two things. Jimmy Fallon was hilarious and Lady Gaga was... an octopus??? Thoughts??
On New Year's Day, I slept in and then we headed out to the beach. Absolutely gorgeous and there was a seal swimming maybe five feet away from the shore. Incredible.
Michael and I got together that night for our usual fare of Pat and Oscars and catch-up. We thought that the P&O was in South Coast Plaza. It wasn't. As was nothing else. Zombie Apocalypse, anybody? It was a little creepy.
New Years is always a time when people come up with new resolutions. I'm not this year. I don't want to set any expectations. I'd rather be surprised with that happens then set all these expectations and then be disappointed. I'm going to continue my goals from last year though since they are always something I want to be working on: healthy living, more informed, more spontaneity, better control with money and more time with God. I enjoyed my journey through 2011 and know that 2012 has so much to offer. I can't wait to see what it holds.
