.... make it to lunch :)
I've always enjoyed looking forward to things. When working out, I'll count down the seconds until my five minute jogging interval is finished (5 mins=300 seconds). Obviously I count down big things like how many days until I go on vacation or go home. For a long time, when I was teaching, my day to look forward to was Thursday. Fridays were always good days, Supernatural was on Thursday nights and I have college group so if I could make it through Thursday, things were good.
Now I need to make it to lunch. I don't have a break between 8:00 when school stars and 12:08 when the bell rings for lunch. Two and a half hours of fifth graders, one advisory period and two sixth grade classes. It's hectic, it's crazy, I have some iffy students in those two sixth period classes, not to mention the hellions in first-third period so it's exhausting.
And then lunch comes. I eat lunch in my classroom since I'm only getting paid for 8 hours of work so I try and get done as much as I can in the classroom. And then I have my prep. Forty lovely minutes of "me" time. And, as mentioned in the previous post, I can catch up on my blogs, news articles, maybe post myself, etc. And of course, do more planning and copying if necessary.
Once this heavenly break is over, I only have two periods. And they're pretty good periods (these are the kids I'll have every day when I start up at the college). I like most of the kids. Eighth period made me die with laughter yesterday, even though they're chatty.
So, in conclusion, 12:08 is my target time. If I can it make it to that appointed time, I can do anything.
