Despite living in Idaho for nearly five and a half years, I have never gone to a BSU game. Yesterday, I unexpectedly had my first experience. Brooke and Kevin had tickets that they didn’t want to use and because no one picked them up on Craigslist, I got to take them. A quick call to Abbey forty-five minutes before the game began and we were set to go. We missed kick-off and BSU was already up by a touchdown when we arrived and found our seats, which were close to one end of the field but really low down. As t was the last game of the season and they were playing New Mexico, who was apparently not too great of a team, it wasn’t packed and there wasn’t super high energy. But it was still a blast (and we didn’t totally freeze!). By the end of the game, we knew to shout “First Down” when we needed to and cheered loudly whenever the Broncos scored a touchdown. We also amused ourselves by discussing the two-toned hair of the cheerleaders, the difference between the pony-tailed cheerleaders and the long-haired cheerleaders as well as cursing the band that seem to cut us off wherever we turned (although they did play Queen music during their half-time show…). We left before the end of the game- it was getting really cold, we couldn’t quite feel our feet and BSU was up by like a million. And they scored again after we left (we could hear the cannon that indicated a touchdown). For as ill prepared for the weather as I was and for as last minute as this adventure was, I’m so glad that I was able to take this opportunity! I am now far more likely to go to another BSU game if the opportunity presents itself… imagine how much better it would be in the sunshine!
So cool that you got to be inside the smurf stadium!
