Winter Camp 2011

So here is Winter Camp in a nutshell:

Roadtrips and share time with BFFs and staff.

Amazing kids (who sang, danced, went on some high ropes courses, enjoyed coca cola and Jones soda, ROCKED OUT with their colors and were taped up to the walls)

Sweet little babies with kissable cheeks who I could play on the jungle gym with for hours and hours

Incredible beauty up in the Mountains. And because Nate always sums it up a thousand times better, here is what he had to say:

Winter Camp 2011

I have summarized Winter Camp 2011 with the acronym C.A.M.P. Enjoy reading about what God did at camp in the lives of His people!

C

- Cabins = Being in the cabins with Jr. Highers is an eye opening experience. The depth of thought, the questions they ask, the prayers, and the recalling of what they have learned makes cabin time special. But it does not stop there; the laughter, the sharing of past Jr. High experiences together, and just being together makes the cabins at Forest Home a very special place. Also, this year was by far the cleanest the cabins have been in my eight years of going to Winter Camp!

- Counselors = The Jr. High staff is a great, great blessing from God. They serve diligently, they do not stop even thought they are dead tired, and they do an incredible job of modeling for the Jr. High group what a disciple of Jesus Christ is. Also, four of the counselors did a great job of leading seminars at camp. The seminars in the past have always been well done but this year they were top notch. We have been blessed with many gifted teachers in Jr. High.

A

- Atmosphere = From beginning to end this Camp was filled with joy! Kids were excited to learn from God’s Word, sing praises to God, play competitive games with each other, and be a part of something bigger than themselves. What was amazing was to see this all across the board. Everybody was participating! Not one person put themselves above the group!

- Alone = Every Winter Camp the kids spend 25 minutes in silence with the Lord on Saturday and then do the same thing for 15 minutes on Sunday. Ask your kids about their quiet time! Every Jr. Higher used this time wisely and found it enjoyable! It is good to see young people in this world just being still with God.

M

- Music = The music leaders did a beautiful job of leading the group in worshipping our King thru music. The Jr. Highers loved worshipping God thru singing at camp. They were praising God with their whole heart! Sunday morning before communion was especially sweet because everybody was physically tired but their hearts were fully awake and they were blazing to the Lord. I enjoy so much singing to the Lord with the Jr. High family.

- Miss = I miss camp already. I miss seeing kids let their guard down and just enjoy God and life. I miss seeing kids not feeling the overwhelming pressure of education and sports placed on them and enjoying God’s creation and fellowship with other believers. I miss seeing kids standing up in front of their peers and proclaiming the truth. I miss seeing kids worship the Lord with no concern for what anyone else thinks. I miss watching kids jotting down notes as the Word of God is taught. I miss seeing kids just being quiet with the Lord. I miss hearing the laughter. I miss looking at all the smiles. I miss watching all the kids jumping up and down cheering on all their teammates. I miss the van/bus ride up where we just talk about life. I miss the kids and the staff. I guess will have to meet Wednesday night and do most of these things again!!!!!!!!!

P

- Proclaim = One of the delights of my job is when I ask a theological question or a question concerning our past lessons and see Jr. Highers raise their hands, stand up in front of the group, and proclaim the truth. It was so awesome to see Jr. Highers excited to answer questions at camp about what they had learned and to hear them answer well was music to my soul. I love the confidence that the group is showing in the theological realm and I am pumped to see them be able to articulate their faith and know what theological words mean and how it relates to their life.

- Prayer = Lots and lots of prayer goes into this trip and I am so thankful that God answers in ways far better than I could have ever thought. He does things in ways that could not be explained. He works in beautiful ways and I am so thankful to Him for this trip and what He did for His glory. He deserves all the credit for everything that was good on this trip!
