Rull cray-cray

Folks, this has been the most mental week of my life in a long time and next week doesn't look to be much better. I left you lovely people on Friday night after a lovely gala event in downtown Boise. Saturday was a lovely day- full of down town wanderings in Boise, some new CDs including a new Jars of Clay CD and then a movie at the Northern Lights Cinema with Ariel, Steph and a few other people. Sunday was a quiet day, especially since I didn't do Junior High and the Monday arrived.

Here is what happened on Monday: I couldn't find my keys and was almost late. I didn't have any prep time for my lessons. My 6th graders were exhausting. The projector died in the middle of fifth period. I was showing pieces of art on the projector. Which is broken. I have orchestra rehearsal, which is crazy because it's the week before the concert. We do get out early which gives me time to go get gas. I pay $50. That sucks.

Tuesday: I start to grade the Meyers Briggs assessments that my college kids took the week before. It turns out they are on the wrong scantron sheets and I cannot get the templates to fit correctly. Lynette is teaching and the kids are so unresponsive that it's embarrassing. Also five of them didn't read for their quiz and only seven of them turn in their writing assignment. I have to read the riot act. As I am closing the door of my car in the parking lot of Parma, I someone get my keys caught in the door, right on my clicker (which is luckily already not working). I have to unhook the key to the car from the ring to unlock the car and get my keys back out. I attempt to make pizza dough with wheat flour. It doesn't work so I add white flour. It kind of rises. I make calzones. They're pretty gross but I feel bad about wasting the food so I am still making my way through them.

Wednesday: It is soooo windy that I can barely make it through my run without nearly falling over. Erica comes to observe the class and so the kids are not too focused. I finally figure out a topic for the seminar which I now have to start working on. I also agree to write up a short paragraph on each of my students to give to Peggy so she can share with the parents at parent-teacher conferences. I have a great night out with Dori and Lindsey first at the Coyotes Wine Bar downtown and then the Acapulco but I get home late. I want to finish watching Rescue Dawn after talking on the phone first with Megan and then Mom that I don't get to bed until really late.

Thursday: I struggle to get up in the morning because I am exhausted. I decide to email all the advisers of my students to find out any more information on them as I can. Most of the responses are "they're super slackers and I have barely seen them yet". Awesome. Three of them don't show up and one shows up extremely late. Again, I have to read the riot act to some of them. I also now have to grade a bunch of late assignments and get them into the grade book. Most of the kids don't turn in their rubric with their essays so I have to make copies of those so I can grade. Because of my late meeting, I am running late on my way out to Parma and have to eat lunch in the car. This is difficult when it's a left-over taco. I arrive at school to find out that I have forgotten about music so an assignment for the fifth graders was done for homework instead. Chances are 50% won't do the homework. I do give a few students extra credit to transfer the Meyers Briggs assessments onto the correct pages so that I can score them on Friday. I have about twenty minutes at home to grab a few things and change to go to the concert. EPIC concert at the Taco Bell arena. I meet Jars of Clay. We chat. We are on our way to becoming BFFs. Life is good. Major traffic on the freeway home. I get home around midnight and finally fall asleep around 12:30.

Friday: Up at 5:45 for a run. This does not bode well for Friday's mood. I am correct in assuming 50% of the students don't do their homework. They are lined up in the hallway getting it down. One students complains that someone stole her pencil. Turns out he had her pencil because she chucked it at him. Awesome. I do have an enjoyable four periods of sixth graders. Projector dies again 8th period and I have to postpone the end of the lesson until Monday. Internet in the house stops working. I stay at school until about 5:00 pm getting work done. Work that I am not getting paid for. I go over to the Cox's house and grade all of my college work, including doing all of the MBTI assessments. I get to bed on the late side again.

Saturday and Sunday were full of work, trying to stay awake, getting laundry done, cleaning, and eventually getting some sleep. I have to work more on my seminar, practice for worship, and lead youth group tonight.

Here is what I still have to do this week: Write out all lesson plans for Erica. Plan and teach two college class lessons. Work on figuring out how the simulation is going to work on Wednesday. Meet with Mark and Mary Lou at school at some point. Grab dinner with Becky and coffee with Ashley. Pack. Figure out what I'm doing for after spring break. Prep everything with Lynette for the college kids and touch base with Kelsey and Dora about taking over for the two classes I'll be gone. Finish my seminar. Go to rehearsal on Monday. Photocopy the MBTI information for each student. Write up and copy the midterm assignment and hand out to the students. Make and copy quizzes for both days. Write up the WWI test for next week when I'm gone. I'm sure there are a lot more things but this is just what I can think of right now.

Mantra for the week: You can make it to Thursday. You can make it to Thursday. You can make it to Thursday. Everyone say it with me....

Oh, and I'm too tired to proof-read so get over it.
