Concert! Or the night I met Jars of Clay for the 4th time...

On Thursday, Erica, her bf Dan and I went to the Rock 'n Worship concert at the Taco Bell arena. Let's be real, the only reason I was there was because of Jars of Clay but there were some cool bands that came before hand.

This first group was called Anthem Lights. I was in the bathroom for most of their set but omigosh they reminded me of a faux boy band. Take a look at their fist-pump in the area frozen move in the picture boys. Actually, what they REALLY reminded me of was the Alter Boyz. They were pretty funny and so cute in their little tight pants and scarves and spiked hair.
The Afters were a great band- the lead singer had this incredible voice and his Southern drawl was so sweet. They were from Dallas so I texted Bethie and told her she could go track them down.
Matt Maher led a really cool time of worship- awesome voice and great guitar skills.
Thousand Foot Krutch was out of control- I couldn't really understand a word they said but they were Canadian, which immediately makes them fun and they had so much energy. Loved it!

I had no idea who these guys were at first but they are LeCrae and they are awesome. Their rapping and hip-hop moves and beats are just out of control. They have even more energy and passion than TFK and they kept me absolutely captivated. And I have their song "Background" stuck in my head. LOVE them and want to take them home with me. How they were not falling out with all the energy they exerted is beyond me.

JARS! What can I say about them? I love them. I love them more every time I listen to their music, meet them, see them in concert. They started off singing "Two Hands" from The Long Fall Back to Earth and then went right into "Dead Man" from Good Monsters. That's always a good one because Dan gets down on the ground like he's being attacked and dying- awesome effects. Then they introduced one of their new songs off their new album Shelter. I was the most excited about this one because it's the song that has inspired my talk about community for Winter Camp next week. Then they sang "Work" and "Flood" (lots of cool red lights with that one) and then finished off with "We Will Follow", also from their newest. I sang along with everything, cheered loudly and was so bummed when they left the stage.

After the show, they were at their booth and merch table but there weren't too many people around so I got a chance to talk with them. Dan asked for my name and Charlie remembered it (yay!), I got to talk to them about how their new CD inspired my talk, I gave Stephen a high five because of his creechy mustache. We talked about the time I saw them at the House of Blues and he talked about supporting the bartenders and giving them money, even if you had fundamentalist leanings and he remember what I was talking about and added to the story. Love it! And of course, I got a picture with the whole group. I can't wait to see them again in concert. I really need to get that letter about being their cellist sent to them :)

Mercy Me also performed and they were incredible but honestly, for me, it was all about the Jars.
