You'll Never Walk Alone!

Who are these strange Boston Red Sox men on my blog? Why would I, a New Yorker through and through, ever post a picture even slightly relating to the Red Sox? Well, I would like to introduce you to John W. Henry and Tom Werner, principal owner and chairman of Liverpool Football Club. These two men are in charge of New England Sports Venture, which is also the owner of the Boston Red Sox. The disastrous Hicks and Gillette era is over. Under these two American owners, several integral and strong members of administration were sacked or left, money for a new Stanley Park stadium, never arrived, Liverpool finished 7th in the standings for the 2009-2010 season and failed to produce results in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and Europa Cup. Now, despite the fact that Hicks and Gillette are seeking 1.6 billion pounds in damages, all Liverpool fans and players are looking forward to tomorrow's derby at Goodison with lifted spirits. Martin Broughton, Liverpool's chairman, and Roy Hodgson, the manager, are both thrilled with the new prospects. Among other good news, Jamie Carragher also committed to the Reds until 2013, so that's great. I'm really hoping that as this change happens, things perk up for Liverpool. Our next few matches are against Everton, Napoli (for Europa Cup), Rovers, Bolton and then Chelsea. That last one will be the real test so fingers crossed. Come on you Reds! You'll Never Walk Alone!

  1. I think its unfair to say they didn't produce results in the Europa cup. A semi-final of a European competition isn't a bad finish. I'm not saying that just as a "settle for what we can get". I'd say getting to the semi of Europa is better than doing well in Carling or something like that. Anyways, thats my opinion. Everything else I agree with you on.
