I had to celebrate Hanukkah in Idaho this year because it fell before I was heading home for the break. Mom had sent up a package with my Hanukkiah, made in first grade, but it didn't arrive until the second night. Luckily, I was able to improvise with wine glasses and some votive candles.
The rest of the nights went smoothly. I made latkes one of the nights and those were delicious (the first time making them completely on my own!).
Because I was incredibly busy that week, I had to light all of the candles pretty late at night but I would read my book and drink my nightly cup of tea
while basking in the lights of the candles.
On the Sunday of Hanukkah, I was over at the Cox's house and Sarah and I decided to bake. Since I was craving them, we made sufganiyot. There was a little issue with measurements and the first few were pretty heavy but we remedied the situation with some additional flour and baking soda, and it all worked out. They were so yummy- I seriou
sly ate like a thousand.
Chag Sameach!!!
