I don't have any problems with how many students I have in my classes. I really don't. So far the classes have been awesome, especially the Effective Studying kids (I know, right!?). What drives me crazy is when kids add late. I understand the policy that you have a week to sign up/drop classes but when class starts on a Thursday and you don't sign up until the following Friday, you have now already missed three days of class as opposed to the two if you have sign up for the MW classes. And in my world, three classes is a LOT. I actually drop your final grade by one letter if you miss three classes. Obviously, I'm not dropping their grade because it's a different situation but now there is so much for them to catch up on. And of the four people who have added by Friday, one has been fine, two just showed up to class yesterday without any announcement and I had to catch them up today (so technically they've missed four classes... because they really didn't participate much yesterday...) and one came to talk to me on Friday but then didn't come to class on Tuesday. Ugh! Drives me absolutely crazy! I always wonder if I should just forget about catching them up and having them jump right in but I don't want to do that. Oh conflict.
That being said, the students who do show up and participate have been great. I've laughed a lot with them and they've said things that have surprised me and made me think and I'm excited to see where we can go from here. The education students are slightly quieter but I'm looking forward to new things I can do with them as well.
