Wedding Weekend in Boulder

The day after AXP ended, I headed up to Boulder Colorado to celebrate Kristen's wedding. I made it to Denver with no issues and got onto the bus with no problems either, which was lovely. I found my way to the beautiful Boulderado Hotel and met up with Mariah and Sara and Kenzie. The other girls were out running some errands so I hung out with the girls, changed and eventually we all met and went out to this delicious tapas/Mediterranean style restauarant. Delicious food, yummy mojitos and lots of great conversation. And we all kinda matched, clothing wise :)

After dinner and some drinks (and silly photo-shoots) in the hotel room, we headed out for a night on the town. The first place we went had free drinks so that was nice but the club was pretty bad and the music wasn't at all good music to dance to. We eventually went up to the roof and the girls were trying to find guys that matched the directions on their cards but at this point I was exhausted from AXP. I lasted for maybe another forty-five minutes, joined the girls at a Mexican restaurant for margaritas and stale chips (what Mexican restaurant runs out of salsa!?!?!) and then highed it on home to bed.

Because I'm incapable of sleeping in, I got up around 9 and went on a run through downtown Boulder. I actually ended up running to our second hotel and asked about check-in and then got to run along the river. So beautiful, although I forgot about the altitude and struggled a bit. I met the girls back at the hotel and we went to a crepes restaurant for breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Everyone kind of scattered for the afternoon but you know me and how I don't like to waste my time while traveling so I wandered around Pearl Street, popping into antique and thrift stores, book stores and whatever else piqued my interest. Boulder is certainly an interested mix of people- hippies and outdoorsy folk reign supreme here.

That night we went out to the rehearsal dinner at this lovely Italian restaurant with delicious food. There were so many people there but Sara and I chatted with Josh and Kristen and Mariah, Caitlin and Ben. And the tiramisu was to DIE for.

ugh... no words...

I went out for another run the next morning and then met up with Sara at the market. We picked out a delicious spread of bread, yogurts, tomatoes, peaches, and other delicacies that I can't think of now, and had a picnic with Dave and Mariah right next to the river. We had a few hours to kill before the wedding so we popped into this weird contemporary art museum that took us about ten minutes to see and then walked up to CU Boulder and went to their free natural history museum. There were dinosaurs, beehives, really cool (and sad) smog plates and lots of puppets. Just a dream for a kid (or a kid at heart like me). We also peeked around backstage of their Shakespeare Festival, which was all set up for a production of "The Tempest". I wanted to steal an anchor but in the end I didn't. Maybe their security should have been better. Just sayin'...

Then it was wedding time! We all got changed and headed over to the church. Kristen was absolutely gorgeous and the ceremony was beautiful. It was so lovely to see her and Josh get married and I am so excited for their future. The reception was held down the street at the Boulderado and the C of I crew got there first and settled down on the corner couches with our drinks and chatted. Again, for those who know me, all I need to have fun at a wedding is good music and dancing and we certainly did a lot of that. I knew I wasn't going to see 80% of these people after the wedding so I made sure to have a good time. I love dancing at weddings!

The next morning, we packed up and went to a little lunch reception out by where Kristen and Josh live. They graciously took Sara and me to the bus station and we sat around reading for an hour until our bus came to take us to the airport. We chatted at the gate until Sara took off and then I found my own gate and made it home with no issues. Congratulations, Snyders! So happy for you!
