Wild Rumpus!

Maurice Sendak passed away today at age 83 and honestly, I don't know many authors/illustrators that had such an impact on little me.

Where the Wild Things Are is obviously a must for any child. We've all felt the urge to run away, be King, lead the Wild Things in a Wild Rumpus. But we've also all wanted to come back home and find our dinner still hot.

In the Night Kitchen was banned because of the minor nudity. But you know what, I loved Mickey and his adventures in the Night Kitchen.

Of course there is also his work with my favorite Carole King in Really Rosie. How can this song not make anybody happy?

Maurice Sendak, children for years will be reading your books and being better people because of it. I know that I am. Thank you for everything.
