Guest opener tonight was Matthew Morrison. We quickly learned NOT to call him Will Schuester. He has an entire song about it. Matthew can be summed in one word: Adorable. He sang a few Glee songs, a few original songs, played the ukulele and the tambourine and danced with his backup dancers. Again, in a word, adorable.
Single / The One (Mash-up) – NKOTBSB- mash ups are my favorite, especially when they mashed up two such similar songs.
Summertime – NKOTB
The Call – BSB- "we're going to a place nearby.... gotta go....."
Dirty Dancing– NKOTB
Bye Bye Love – BSB
The Right Stuff – NKOTB- oh my I LOVE this song. I love the "Oh oh oh oh ohs" the best. Also I like all of the counting.
Larger Than Life – NKOTBSB- They switched the lyrics up to go "All you people can't you see, can't you see, NKOTBSB." So sweet. I love that this is a love letter to the fans. Also we were totally rocking out. They clearly LOVE what they do and love singing these songs. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have thousands of ladies screaming for you....
Blow Your Mind – NKOTB- Jordan Knight, oh my lanta how does your voice go so high??? He totally stole the show with his high notes. So impressed.
Valentine Girl – NKOTB
If You Go Away – NKOTB
Please Don’t Go Girl – NKOTB
Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely – BSB- Oh, what a classic BSB song. I'm pretty sure this was when the white suits came back. But I can't be sure. Let's just pretend that it is. OK? OK.
10,000 Promises – BSB- This is a new song but I love it- I cannot get enough of it. I love that they broke this middle section down into a bunch of ballads. Best.Ballads.Ever.
I’ll Never Break Your Heart – BSB- Also an incredible ballad and total old school BSB. THis also may have been the song where they brought ladies from the audience on stage with them. Two never sang a word (lame), one was wearing the SHORTEST skirt ever and one was a little girl who gave them all hugs (she was like five- her dad was with her). None of the girls brought their cameras onstage. Idiots. They did not make the most of their opportunity. What a waste. Erica, Shiri and I would have taken FULL advantage of the privilege. Just saying.
Inconsolable – BSB
Drowning – BSB- Also a new song but incredible.
Incomplete – BSB
Step By Step – NKOTB- Maybe one of my new favorites. Mostly because they go through each step on how to get a girl. And each get to sing so there's a slight chance of figuring out who's Danny and who's Donny and figure out the three J's. Also, we get to hear the vocal range of the band, from Danny to Jordan. Lovely
Cover Girl – NKOTB- If this song doesn't get you dancing, then nothing will. And it didn't hold any charm over some of the ladies in our section. They sat like bumps on a log for 99% of the show. Why even come? I don't get it!? Most of us were hopping.
My Favorite Girl – NKOTB
Games – NKOTB
Click Click Click – NKOTB
Tonight – NKOTB- Mine and Shiri's co-favorite song. La la la la la la tonight. We love the changing of the beat and we love the fake trumpet sound and we love figuring out when things are happening. Tonight? Oh OK, tonight. They also went down into the crowd. Jealous. And they had the audience sing out loud like twenty five times. We shouted it out.
Shape of My Heart – BSB- These next five were a mash-up ballad extravaganza. They somehow managed to take outfits that would look ridic on anyone else and make them look cool. I don't know how they do it. AJ found the perfect angle to wear his hat. I'm pretty sure at some point Nick was wearing slated sunglasses. Brian and Howie were just adorable. At one point, Shiri became convinced Brian was singing to her.
As Long As You Love Me – BSB
All I Have To Give – BSB
If You Stay – BSB
Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) –BSB
I’ll Be Loving You Forever – NKOTB- Again, Jordan Knight WENT TO TOWN on the falsetto. It hurt a little bit.
I Want It That Way – BSB- BEST BSB SONG EVER! Every single person was singing alone If you don't know the lyrics to "I Want It That Way" you should just go home and crawl back under the rock that you've clearly been living under.
Then there was a little love-fest moment. The band took a break and then nine guys were out on the stage together and took turns introducing each other. AJ, the bad boy of BSB, introduced Donny, the bad boy of NKOTB, who then returned the favorite. Carter brother Nick introduced the two Knight brothers. Brian and Joey explained that they had a very tight bromance going on and both ended up singing to each other. I think Shiri melted just a little bit. And then finally, latin love Howie introduced Mr. Woody Danny Wood. They were just darling. Everybody fell in love a little bit more.
Don’t Turn Out the Lights – NKOTBSB- This was the only actual song that they sang together. They all took turns. Everyone (minus a few) were dancing. There was certainly a party in the house.
ENCORE
Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) – BSB- BSB started the encore with maybe the second best BSB song. There was a lot of squealing and screaming and the pyrotechnics on the stage were incredible.
Hangin’ Tough / We Will Rock You (Mash-up) – NKOTB- Then New Kids hit the stage (after a LOT of green smoke and Irish fiddlilng) wearing their Celtic jerseys and hats. One of them (Joey.... was that you?) had it artfully torn around his body. What a waste of a shirt! They rocked out to "Hangin' Tough" only to then be taken on by BSB wearing their own Orlando Magic blue jerseys. I felt like I was about to see West Side Story unfold in front of me, only instead of jeans and t-shirts, the Jets and Sharks were wearing bedazzled, glitter covered basketball jerseys.
Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) / Hangin’ Tough (Mash-up) - NKOTBSB- Which of course merited a one just final Mashup of the night. It was epic. The end.
